History

Grand Central is located in the Central Business District of Toowoomba, the major commercial, retail and population centre for the Darling Downs. Grand Central is currently trading in its 9th year.

Stage One of the Centre opened in September 1996 incorporating a new Target store, new Coles Supermarket and thirty (30) specialty stores. Stage Two opened with Myer, the only National Department store on the Darling Downs and an additional forty (40) stores including, a five hundred (500) seat food court. The development was completed in June 1999 with the introduction of a five (5) screen Birch Carroll and Coyle Cinema Complex.

Grand Central now hosts one hundred and forty five (145) specialty retailers with a GLA of approximately 46,000 square metres. The population of the primary trade area is 90,000 people with 260,000* residing in the total trade area. (*Source: As at 2001 Census).
