Fashion blogger cassandra talks toowoomba style

Meet fashion and beauty influencer Cassandra Ryan, creator and founder of cassandraleeblog.com and contributor for toowoombaliving.com

When did you become interested in fashion and beauty?

I was a bit of a tomboy when I was younger, so it probably wasn’t until high school that I became interested in makeup and clothes, and from there it just kept growing the more I experimented.

When did you turn that experimentation into your namesake blog?

I have a diploma in beauty therapy, and I did sewing in high school if that counts. But what drove me to start a blog was the need to be creative and have a space of my own after having my daughter. Fashion and beauty are the things that I love and enjoy reading about so it was only natural that my blog would have a strong emphasis on them.

What is your signature go-to look?

On a day-to-day basis, I really can’t go past a white shirt, and jeans (or shorts for summer). It’s an easy outfit that allows me to run around after my daughter without feeling restricted. Throw on a pair heels, some jewellery and a well-cut blazer to take the look to night. With simple outfits it really is all about your accessories.

How would you describe the fashion scene in Toowoomba?

Toowoomba ladies really nail laidback style. Whether that be smart casual or a bit more grungy, we keep things pretty low-key here. With the Grand Central redevelopment and the introduction of so many new fashion stores, I think it will definitely encourage people to explore their own personal style and build upon it.

What do you think the H&M opening will contribute?

A lot of people are really excited about H&M. They make fashion and trends accessible to everyone. Whether you have a high or low budget for clothes, you can create great outfits that looked pulled together and won’t break the bank. Stores like this also are a great opportunity to test out a new trend, before investing in more expensive pieces.
